An Introduction to Flash Lighting with Gary Hill
Learn the art of flash lighting in this hands-on workshop with award-winning photographer Gary Hill. Whether you're new to using flash or looking to refine your technique, this course will teach you how to control light effectively using modifiers and reflectors. You'll explore how different light sources, and learn how to achieve flattering skin tones straight out of the camera.
Through guided demonstrations and practical exercises, you'll work with various lighting setups and discover how aperture plays a key role in exposure control. By the end of the session, you’ll have the confidence to shape light creatively and capture professional-quality images while reducing the need for excessive post-production.
All flash equipment and triggers will be provided.

About Your Instructor - Gary Hill
Gary Hill is an award-winning photographer, educator, and judge with multiple Fellowships, including The Societies and The British Institute of Professional Photography. With over 14 years of experience, he specializes in portraiture, fashion, and fine art photography.
A sought-after speaker and mentor, Gary has taught at major industry events across the UK, Europe, and the US. As a Global Ambassador for leading brands like Elinchrom and The Flash Centre, he is dedicated to helping photographers refine their skills and elevate their work.
Getting to the Venue
This event is hosted at The Flash Centre London, accessible via the London Underground. The closest station is Tottenham Hale, but for anyone arriving to London into Euston or Kings Cross, you can get the Victoria line to Seven Sisters and then walk a short 8-10 minutes.
We do have some limited on-site parking, but this requires pre-booking. Please call us on 02078375649 to confirm in advance if you are arriving by car.
