Wedding Photography - Notable Mentions

The Bride, by Dave Vokes Photography

"There is nothing more stunning than a black and white wedding photo." Those are the words of the photographer, and we couldn't agree more! There's something about a great black and white image that oozes class. We also really loved the effect of the focus in the mirror, to show the bride at the crucial final stage of preparation. A moment so many can relate to. This image was shot using a Nikon D5 and Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 Lens.

Flower Girls, by Samantha Jones

Sticking with the black and white theme, this image instead focuses on a moment of calm (perhaps before the storm) with the flower girls. These little ladies play such an important role on the bid day, that it's great to see them appreciated in this shot.  Image taken with a Canon 450D and 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6, proving you don't need expensive gear and 100 megapixels to take beautiful images!

Weddings with friends that love confetti, by Carl Gorton Photography

The cheekiness in this image shows the fun side of weddings. We had to include this one in the notable mentions, for the range of facial expressions alone. Captured with a Nikon Z 6 II Body and a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens.

And the Winner Is....!

Callum & Raychel, by Chris Thornton

We can only imagine how much work went into this stunning image of the happy couple. The dappled reflection on the water, the positioning of the veil (no doubt thanks to a handy assistant just out of frame!) and the colour contrast between the white and deep blue of the sky make this a truly beautiful composition. Add to that the balance of background and foreground lighting to make the couple pop whilst maintaining the detail, and you can see why we picked this as our winner!

This image was lit using Pixapro lighting (also available from Godox), and captured with the Canon EOS R6. We highly recommend you check out Chris' Instagram to see more of his beautiful images @christhornton.

As the winner of this month's competition, Chris receives a £100 TFC voucher to spend on anything on our website!
