Adox C-TEC C-41 Negative Kit Rapid for 12-16 Films 1L

Adox C-TEC C-41 Negative Kit Rapid is a complete colour negative processing kit for developing C-41 films at home or in the darkroom. Made in Germany by Adox as a successor to the popular Tetenal Colortec Kit, it uses a straightforward two-bath process with colour developer and bleach-fix, followed by stabiliser. Suitable for both inversion tank and rotary processing, the 1-litre kit provides enough chemistry to process approximately 12-16 films.

A Successor to Tetenal Colortec

Adox developed C-TEC C-41 as a successor to the well-known Tetenal Colortec Kit. It provides film photographers with a convenient way to continue processing standard C-41 colour negative films using a compact chemistry kit suitable for home and small darkroom workflows.

Simple Two-Bath C-41 Processing

The kit uses colour developer followed by a combined bleach-fix, commonly known as blix, before the final stabilising stage. Combining the bleach and fixer into a single bath helps simplify the C-41 workflow while still providing the chemistry required for proper development of compatible colour negative films.

Easy to Mix

The components are supplied in standardised 200ml bottles, with each stage designed to make 1 litre of working solution. For example, the developer components can simply be combined in a suitable container and topped up with water to make 1 litre. Partial quantities can also be mixed when you do not need the full working solution at once.

Flexible Processing Temperatures

C-TEC C-41 can be used at temperatures above 24°C provided the chosen temperature is maintained consistently throughout the relevant processing stage, typically using a water bath. Adox gives 16 minutes for development and 10 minutes for bleach-fix at 24°C as starting points, with processing times adjusted when using different temperatures.

Suitable for a Wide Range of C-41 Films

The chemistry is designed for colour negative films intended for the standard C-41 process, making it suitable for processing different film brands and formats within the same darkroom workflow.

What's Included

  • Colour developer components.
  • Bleach-fix components.
  • Stabiliser.
  • Chemistry to make 1 litre of working solution.

TFC's Verdict

For anyone who previously relied on the Tetenal Colortec Kit, Adox C-TEC C-41 is a particularly welcome option. The simplified two-bath process, convenient 1-litre quantities, partial-mixing capability, and compatibility with both inversion and rotary processing make it a practical choice for home colour development. With enough chemistry for approximately 12-16 films, it's a great way to bring C-41 processing into your own darkroom.
