CineStill Xpro C-41 800T Tungsten 36-Exposure 35mm Colour Negative Film

Motion picture film for still photographers!

CineStill 800Tungsten is a one-of-a-kind colour film made for still photographers. This 800 ISO, tungsten-balanced colour negative film is based on the same motion picture technology used by leading cinematographers worldwide. It’s perfect for low-light tungsten conditions but is also versatile enough for various lighting situations to create different looks.

Our improved manufacturing process now extends the shelf life of 800T, with fewer noticeable artifacts after expiration. This advanced motion picture emulsion is designed for hybrid workflows, making it ideal for scanning and safe to process in standard C-41 photo labs or Cs41 processing at home. It can also be processed with Cs2 chemistry for low-contrast motion picture negatives. When processed in C-41 chemistry, it creates a complementary contrast curve for optical printing on RA-4 paper. Treat this as a high-speed 800 ISO film for C-41 processing, and push process it up to 3200 ISO if needed!

Key Features:

  • Colour negative motion picture emulsion
  • Safe for C-41 photo lab processing (Remjet-free backing)
  • Acetate base
  • Produces a slight halation effect
  • 35mm / 36 exposures
  • Tungsten balanced
  • Designed for low-light tungsten situations
  • Push-processable up to 3200 ISO
  • Factory spooled, DX-Coded steel cassettes

Recommended acceptable exposure for push processing:

  • No push - EI 200-1000
  • 1 stop push - EI 800-2000
  • 2 stop push - EI 1250-3200
  • 3 stop push - EI 1600-3200 (added contrast)

If shooting in daylight, an 85 filter is recommended, and/or shoot at 400-500 ISO.

Expiration:

The newly boxed CineStill film has an extended shelf life, with fewer visible artifacts after expiration. However, for best results, store it in the fridge and use it within six months of purchase. Process exposed film promptly in C-41 chemistry to preserve image quality and colour fidelity. CineStill film now comes with a two-year expiration date from the manufacturing date on the box. If you have older unboxed versions or film without an expiration date, it may show signs of age fogging.

Note:

This emulsion was initially designed for ECN-2 motion picture processing, but it can still be processed using those steps or with the CineStill Cs2 "Cine Simplified" kit. This will result in a lower contrast negative, not ideal for darkroom printing. Although there is no remjet adhesive layer to interfere with the chemicals, C-41 processing provides higher density and gamma, making it more suitable for still photography workflows. Tests show that C-41 processing yields better results than ECN-2 motion picture lab processing. Long-term archival stability has not been tested beyond nine years, but expectations for longevity should be between Kodachrome and most C-41 films. We will replace any defective roll but do not accept liability beyond that.

Storage and handling:

Load and unload film in low light. Store unexposed film in a refrigerator at 13°C or below, in its original sealed packaging. Before opening, let refrigerated film warm to room temperature to avoid condensation. Process film as soon as possible after shooting, and protect processed film from strong light. Store it in a cool, dry place.
