Classic black & white tones with extra contrast, perfect for medium format landscapes. Ilford Ortho Plus is a fine grain, high-resolution black & white film with a difference. It’s orthochromatic, meaning it’s sensitive to blue and green light, but not red, so reds and oranges appear darker in your images, creating bold contrast and rich tonality, especially in scenic shots. The film can be safely handled under a deep red safelight* in the darkroom, which makes it much easier to work with than standard panchromatic films during loading and inspection.

Originally developed as a high-resolution copy film, Ortho 80 Plus has found its place among photographers who value detail and sharpness. It’s an excellent choice for landscapes, architecture, and any subject where texture and clarity are key.

Rated at ISO 80 for daylight or natural light. If you're shooting under tungsten lighting, it’s recommended to rate it at ISO 40 or adjust your exposure by one stop. Either way, it’s compatible with standard black & white processing – you’ll find development times inside the film box or on Ilford’s technical data sheet.

*Please avoid using an amber safelight, as this may cause fogging.
