The Westcott FJ80 II M is a powerful and refreshingly easy to use 80Ws round head speedlight, built for photographers who want speed, flexibility and consistency without wrestling with complicated menus. Whether used on-camera or off-camera, it works as both a flash and a wireless transmitter, letting you control the wider FJ Wireless Flash System with confidence. Its standout feature is genuine multi-camera brand compatibility, allowing you to shoot TTL and High-Speed Sync across multiple systems using a single flash. Add a responsive touchscreen, strong battery life, ultra-fast flash duration and reliable wireless performance, and you have a speedlight designed to keep up with real-world shooting.
The FJ80 II is the only 80Ws round head speedlight to combine a full touchscreen interface with an integrated radio transceiver. The 2.8 cm colour LCD replaces fiddly buttons with clear, responsive touch controls, making adjustments fast and intuitive. Power levels can be adjusted in 0.1 or 1 stop increments across a full 9 stop range, and settings such as group assignment, channel selection and exposure compensation are easy to access mid-shoot.
One of the biggest advantages of the FJ80 II is its ability to work across multiple camera systems. It offers full TTL and High-Speed Sync support on Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Panasonic Lumix and Olympus cameras, with reliable manual operation on Sony. This means you can standardise on a single flash even if you shoot with more than one camera brand, unlike many systems that require a different flash for each mount.
Thanks to its built-in 2.4 GHz transceiver, the FJ80 II can be used on-camera as both a flash and a transmitter. From the hot shoe, you can control FJ800, FJ400 and FJ200 strobes, FJ-XR receivers and other off-camera FJ80 units. When used off-camera, the FJ80 II acts as a client speedlight and can receive a sync signal from other FJ transmitters.
Where the FJ80 II really stands out is flash duration. With speeds as fast as 1/31000s (t0.1), 1/55600s (t0.5), it is exceptionally well suited to freezing motion. Whether you are photographing dance, sports, action portraits or fast-moving subjects on location, the FJ80 II delivers crisp results with minimal motion blur, even without relying on high shutter speeds.
Colour consistency is excellent, with a stable 5500K output across the entire power range. This ensures predictable results throughout a shoot and seamless matching with other lights in the FJ flash system. Wireless communication remains reliable up to 100 m, even in high-interference environments such as weddings and events, with support for up to 16 groups across 31 channels.
The removable 11.1 V 1600 mAh lithium polymer battery delivers over 500 full-power flashes per charge and fully recharges in around two hours. Fast recycle times of 0.05 to 1.5 seconds support continuous shooting up to 20 fps. Self-monitoring heat protection allows for longer shooting sessions without compromising safety or performance, while the built-in LED modelling lamp offers auto-adjust and independent output control.
The flash head offers 360 degree horizontal rotation and 90 degree vertical tilt, giving you full freedom when shaping light. It can be mounted on-camera, off-camera via the hot shoe, or using the built-in 1/4”-20 female thread. The included shoe stand allows the unit to be used free-standing and can also be mounted directly to most light stands.
The FJ80 II M is an excellent choice for photographers who value flexibility and simplicity without giving up performance. Its true multi-camera brand compatibility is a huge advantage for anyone working across different systems, while the touchscreen interface makes day-to-day use genuinely enjoyable. The exceptionally fast flash duration makes it a strong option for action, dance and sports work, while fast recycling, great battery life and dependable wireless control keep it equally at home at events, weddings and on location. If you want one speedlight that adapts easily to almost any shooting scenario, the FJ80 II is a smart investment.
